CREW OF GROUNDED VESSEL NAMED “VOLGO DON 203” HAS BEEN SAFELY RESCUED

 

At 08:33 p.m. Russian flagged vessel named “VOLGO DON 203” which was anchored at Kartal mooring area, Marmara Sea run aground by dragging anchor.

 

In order to provide safety of navigation, life, property and protect environment Kurtarma 7 tugboat and Kıyı Emniyeti 3 SAR boat have been immediately sent to the place of incident by our organization. Shore based rescue teams in Kilyos and Yönburnu have been also deployed in order to rescue the crew of the casualty vessel from shore. 

 

Upon receiving request of the crew to abandon the casualty vessel, salvage operation was started at about 10.45 p.m. and operation was completed by providing evacuation of all crew members of the casualty vessel safely as of 12.10 a.m.

 

Evacuation operation was carried out successfully under the coordination of Main Search and Rescue Center of the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communication.
