VESSEL NAMED “ANNA SMILE” THAT SUFFERED ENGINE FAILURE IN ISTANBUL STRAIT HAS BEEN MOORED TO AHIRKAPI

 

On 08.12.2016 at 12:17 p.m. 225-meter-long Marshall Islands flagged bulk carrier named “ANNA SMILE” reported that her engines stalled in front of Ortaköy and moored in situ while passing through Istanbul Strait from South - North direction.

 

Our Kurtarma 8 and Kurtarma 3 tugboats and Kıyı Emniyeti 6 SAR boat were immediately sent to the place of incident by the Istanbul Vessel Traffic Services and vessel traffic in Istanbul Strait was temporarily suspended.

 

After repairing the breakdown, at 03:15 p.m. the vessel “ANNA SMILE” was moored to Ahırkapı A mooring area by escort of our tugs.

At 03:35 p.m. vessel traffic in Istanbul Strait was opened in North – South direction. 

 

No pollution or loss of life reported.
